Georgie's draws its name from Bertha Georgie Hyde-Lees, later known as Georgie Yeats, who played a quiet but extraordinary role in literary history. Soon after her 1917 marriage to poet W.B. Yeats, she began practising "automatic writing," the recording of mysterious messages from spirits that sparked a lifelong creative and spiritual collaboration. Her ideas and insight shaped the mystical thinking behind some of Yeats’ most celebrated poetry of the twentieth century. Intelligent, perceptive, and often overlooked, Georgie became both a creative partner and the hidden force behind a literary transformation.
